IPTV EPG not working? Every cause and fix, in order
No programme guide, wrong times, or "no information"? Work through these checks — from the playlist type to the EPG URL and timezone — and get your guide back.
A missing or wrong programme guide is the most common IPTV complaint — and in most cases it is fixable in a minute once you know where the guide actually comes from.
Where the EPG comes from
- Xtream Codes login — the guide is served by your provider automatically. If it's missing, the provider's EPG is empty for those channels; nothing on the player side can invent it.
- M3U playlist — the playlist itself contains no guide. You need the separate XMLTV / EPG URL from your provider (usually ends in
xmltv.php) added next to the playlist.
The checklist, in order
- Using M3U without an EPG URL? Add the EPG link on otoo.app/mylist next to your playlist — that alone fixes the majority of "no EPG" cases. Better: if your provider gave you a
get.phplink, convert it to an Xtream login with the Convert button and the guide arrives on its own. - Guide exists but only for some channels? The provider maps channels to guide data by
tvg-id. Channels without an id show "no information" — ask the provider, the player cannot guess the mapping. - Times are shifted by hours? That's a timezone mismatch. OTOO asks the panel for the 'title' => 'How to install OTOO on a Fire TV Stick (2 minutes, no PC)', 'excerpt' => 'Sideload the OTOO IPTV player on any Fire TV Stick or Fire TV Cube with the Downloader app and a short URL.', 'meta_description' => 'Step-by-step: install the OTOO IPTV player on Amazon Fire TV Stick with Downloader. Works on Fire OS 6, 7 and 8. No computer needed.', 'body' => <<<'MD' OTOO runs on every Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Cube. Until the Amazon Appstore listing is live in your region, the fastest way in is a sideload through the free Downloader app — it takes about two minutes and needs no computer.
1. Allow apps from unknown sources
- Go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options.
- If you don't see Developer options: Settings → My Fire TV → About, then press the Fire TV Stick row seven times. Go back and Developer options appears.
- Open Install unknown apps and switch Downloader to On (install Downloader from the Appstore first if you haven't).
2. Download OTOO
- Open Downloader.
- In the URL field type
otoo.app/fireand press Go. - The APK downloads and the installer opens. Choose Install, then Open.
3. Add your playlist
OTOO shows a MAC address on the first screen. On your phone or computer open otoo.app/mylist, enter that MAC and paste your M3U link or Xtream login (server, username, password) from your provider. The player refreshes within a minute and your channels appear.
Tips
- Remote keys: the Menu button opens the channel list; long-press OK for catch-up and EPG.
- Buffering? Fire TV Sticks share Wi-Fi with everything else in the house. A 5 GHz network or an Ethernet adapter fixes most stutter.
- Free trial is automatic on every new device. When it ends, activate for the year — or grab the free daily code.
OTOO is a media player. It does not include, host or sell any channels or streams — you add your own playlist from your provider.
